“WHAT?” I spun my chair around to look at my husband.
“It’s been turned off,” he said. “They came five days earlier than I asked.”
“So….what do we have?” I asked.
“Nothing.” Read More »

“Imitated but never duplicated, “Mrs. America” remains the first and still the foremost competition for married women. This renowned national competition is devoted to emphasizing that America’s 65 million married women are extraordinarily beautiful, poised, articulate, and versatile.” So reads the declaration on the official web site for Mrs. Texas. I agree. Read More »

I love Suze’s FESS UP FRIDAY blog! If you didn’t read it, make sure to read yesterdays Boomer Babes Rock blog posting (Friday, June 27) by T. Suzanne Eller. I’ll fess up first that I am running horribly late right now for an all-day event. So I must make this quick. However, I am going to come back tomorrow (Sunday) to give y’all an update on what I’m going to be doing all day today. Read More »

!!UPDATED - WINNER ANNOUNCED - UPDATED!!
Today is Fess Up Friday on BBR.
Okay, let me give it a try. Today I fess up that I’m an annoying optimist. In fact, I wrote about it on my personal blog just yesterday.

What about you? What’s one thing you want to get off your chest. Is it that you secretly love the new Chocolate Mix Skittles and that your husband asked for one and you didn’t want to give him even one little vanilla pudding skittle. Oh gosh, that’s me Read More »

I had the amazing opportunity to have lunch this week with Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of the famous evangelist Billy Graham. While my kids don’t even know who Billy Graham is, every Boomer in the world knows exactly who he is and what he stands for. What you may not know is his daughter Anne has clearly inherited his gift for preaching and his deep love for God.
We got to visit because I’m writing an article about her for a magazine. One of my favorite parts of my job is writing on assignment as a freelancer for several publications. My job allows me to meet a variety of interesting people, to hear their stories, to learn from them, and to share their stories with my readers.

Anne is a striking woman--tall and beautiful, with a warm smile and a North Carolina accent that reminds you a bit of her father. She’s also a strong, resolved, intelligent woman, yet very gentle. Being with her, I thought, this is someone who really loves Jesus. She’s humble, simple–and for her, everything she does and is seems to be focused on loving God. She says it is her “magnificient obsession” to know God intimately. I would say that she’s not just talking–that is what I see in her.
Have any of you read any of her best-selling books, or heard her speak? She’s an amazing communicator. I’d love to hear stories from you about how she, or her family, have touched your life.

I’m not really here today. Well, I’m here–on this blog–but it’s not really Friday. It’s Tuesday, and my living room is awash with luggage, laundry, books, a supersized bag of candy for my book table, and a sheaf of papers and tickets and notes.
I’m on my way to speak at the She Speaks conference this weekend, and I get a bonus this time. Instead of flying in and flying out, I have scheduled four extra days to enjoy the beauty of Charlotte, NC.
And there’s an even bigger bonus–my daughter is flying with me. Read More »
