Allison, the birthday boomer, asked us to dream.

Dotsie asked us to consider the top ten trends among Boomers: Working longer * Re-invention * Maintaining Youthfulness * Health Management * Righting Relationships * Traveling * Going Green * Working and Playing Online * Getting Organized * Volunteering.
That’s what she said — these Boomer Girls with their reflective posts that make us think and question where we are right now, and where we want to be.
Yesterday my twins, Ryan and Melissa, turned 25. Nothing like having your kids turn a quarter of a century to make you stop and reflect. Read More
Today is my 53rd birthday. I am not fishing for cards or gifts (although chocolate is ALWAYS welcome!) but I am going to make a request. We have been doing a whole lot of reminiscing on the Boomer Babes Rock blog lately. Including discussions about aluminum Christmas trees, old Zenith B&W TV’s, and other applicable boomer nostalgia. That said, as we ponder the past, I would like to pose a question that focuses on the future. What NEW, DIFFERENT, and AMAZING things are my fellow Boomer Babes planning for the FUTURE? What LIFE GOALS are you setting?
Birthdays always seem to prompt me to set goals, kind of like making New Year Resolutions. Am I alone? As I enter this 53rd year of life, I have decided that I am going to get a handle on defining my boundaries as they pertain to career projects. (A novel concept coming from the Boundaries girl, eh?) I have been talking about this for MONTHS. About paring down, getting organized, delegating more, learning to say “No,” and allowing myself to admit that I CANNOT DO IT ALL.
So, dear Boomer Babes, what is on YOUR PERSONAL AGENDA as you celebrate the life God has given to you? Would love to hear your thoughts. - Allison
Baby boomers are in the midst of another life stage. As with past life stages, they are shaking things up and making midlife societal changes that come as no surprise to me. But maybe that’s because I have my finger on the pulse of this spirited generation and realize what the sheer number of us can do at any crossroad. Seventy-eight million men and women, aged 44 – 62 can certainly impact how the latter years are embraced. Read More
Do you ever struggle to fix dinner? Sometimes I do because there are just the two of us and whipping up a huge meal just doesn’t make sense. My new bloggy friend, Rocks in My Dryer, is an Oklahoma girl and this week she held a Five Ingredients or Less recipe linky blog.
Over 400 bloggers showed up (at least as of Wednesday). It is a treasure trove of five ingredient or less (not counting salt, pepper, or water) main entrees, side dishes, and even desert recipes!
Want to join in? Post a recipe on your site, and then come back here and leave a comment so that these BBR girls and readers can check out the recipe AND your blog. How fun is that? We love you visiting us and leaving such great comments, but we want to come visit your neighborhood too!
If you don’t have a blog, share the recipe in the comment section. Let’s help each other out, girls!
Yum. I can’t wait. And Richard thanks you in advance for helping launch this BBR out of the recipe rut she’s been in.
Check out my blog today for a recipe for Grilled Turkey Tenderloin w/Stuffing.
This photo of Allison with Mrs. Texas goes with her post from the other day. We had a bit of trouble inserting photos!
Enjoy!
Driving through suburbia, where I live, sometimes feels like being in a movie, where the same background loop of film plays over and over. One section of roadway looks the same as the next: the strip malls all have the same stores, and if you go ten miles, you’ll see the same stores flashing by you again: Home Depot, Target, Panera Bread. They are all national chains. The local mom and pop stores are in the minority.
I find myself wondering—who is going to all these stores?
